Sing a Song of Six Quid

sing a song

Sing a Song of Sixpence

Sing a song of sixpence,

A pocket full of rye.

Four and twenty blackbirds,

Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened,

The birds began to sing.

Wasn’t that a dainty dish

To set before the King?

Sing a song of six quid,

The price is getting high.

Only one poor lonely bird

Baked in a pie.

When the pie was opened,

The bird went cheep cheep cheep.

How was it supposed to

Feed a family for a week?

The mum was working two jobs,

To pay for bread and wine.

The dad was losing money,

Gambling all the time.

The kids had turned to street crime,

To occupy their days.

Wouldn’t it be super

If they all got better pay?
